When modelling, the soil to be used should have the following qualities:

• It should not crack under intense heat
• It should not break when dropped
• It should be hard enough to resist pressure.

When modelling, the wet soil should be elastic (be able to stretch when pulled and bend without breaking).

Among the three types of soils mentioned, only clay soil has the mentioned characteristics.

Therefore the best soil for modelling is clay.
