The Commandments
Exodus 20:1 -17, Matthew 22:36-40
God gave Moses the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai. They include:
- Worship no god but me.
- Make no images and do not bow down to any idol.
- Do not use the name of God for evil purposes.
- Observe the Sabbath and keep it holy.
- Respect your father and mother that your days may be added.
- Do not commit murder.
- Do not commit adultery.
- Do not steal.
- Do not accuse anyone falsely.
- Do not envy/covet other people’s property.
- Jesus summarised these commandments into the Greatest Commandment: love. He said that the entire Bible is built upon these two commandments:
1. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind.
2. You shall love your neighbour as you love yourself.
