Proverbs

Proverbs are clever sayings which carry important messages for us to learn from.

You may have to think about a given proverb for some time before you understand its full meaning.

Many proverbs are true for all times.

In many African languages, proverbs are used as ‘spices’ for adding ‘flavour’ to conversation.

Examples:

  1. Love is blind.
  2. Time and tide wait for no man.
  3. Time is money.

Can you think of some proverbs from your first language?
